LSDSC MISSION

The mission of the Lakewood Steilacoom Dupont Soccer Club is to educate & promote development of our local youth to achieve their maximum potential through the sport of soccer.

LSDSC promotes skill development, tactical awareness, mental toughness,physical fitness, leadership & "love of the game" while maintaining high standards of sportsmanship, respect and fair play.

 
Club History

Lakewood Soccer Club Est 1972


The Lakewood Soccer Club was formed in 1972. That first year, the club fielded 17 boys teams and competed in the Tacoma Pierce County Junior Soccer Association. In 1973, the LSC fielded their first girls team, the club also competed in its first Canadian Exchange, sending 15 teams. Three teams won division championships (Kiwanis Lancers, BMC Crusaders and the VGW Lancers).

The 1974 season began with 20 boys teams and 4 girls teams, the club sponsored its first Washington State Junior Soccer Association Challenge Cup; In which the Lakewood Kiwanis Lancerns won the boys 9 year old title.

In 1975 LSC hosted the Challenge Cup again and the girls Lakewood Kiwanis Killers won the title (age group not noted). That was the year of the first 5-a side tournament in Lakewood. The Crickets girls, and Lakewood Kiwanis boys won division championships. The Charles Peterson complex was opened in 1975, adding 3 fields.

In 1976 metal goals were constructed to replace old wooden goals at Fort Steilacoom. The Lakewood Sounder-ettes GU14 won Lakewood's third state championship. The Sounder-ettes then played in Regionals in Las Vegas where they won their division. LSC attained incorporated status as well as IRS exempt status.

In 1977 there were 28 teams representing the LSC in the TPCJSA and IAL leagues.

The 1978-79 season saw over 500 players on 33 teams. Harry Hawkins, long time LSC member and past president of the TPCJSA was given the Presidents Award by WSYSA for his outstanding service to youth soccer. Division titles were won by the Lakewood Savage Rams U14 Gold, APA Hustlers U12 Gold, Holly Homes Studs U12 Bronze. The Sounder-ettes U17 Gold won their IAL division and won their 4th consecutive Challenge Cup title.
